![]() Usher shot 34.2% from long range in his final season at Georgia Tech. ![]() However, similar to Reaves, teams will only need to have a late contest on his 3-point attempts. Is Usher a bad 3-point shooter? The answer is no. When you look at all the teams in title contention, they have several players who are willing to sacrifice their bodies to get their team another possession. Outside of Austin Reaves and Stanley Johnson, it was hard to find a player to dive on the floor for a loose ball. That is the kind of player that the Lakers were sorely missing last season. The first play I saw while watching Jordan Usher’s tape was him diving on a loose ball and saving it for his team. This is very similar to how the Golden State Warriors use Green – allowing him to operate from the elbow and facilitate while Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson come off of screens. Georgia Tech ran many actions that involved having Usher playing at the elbow and allowing him to be a playmaker and decision-maker. ![]() Although Usher only averaged 2.9 assists during his final season at Georgia Tech, he is an excellent passer. Unfortunately, he wasn’t invited to the NBA Combine, so we won’t get to see how he tests, but when watching tape, you see the athleticism on the floor.ĭuring his interview following his workout with the Lakers, one of the players Usher compared his game to was Draymond Green. Kind of similar to how we saw Malik Monk fit next to the two Lakers superstars. Having someone as explosive as Usher playing next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis would be an excellent fit for the Lakers. Usher is quick and shifty while making cuts and coming off pin downs and other screens. He isn’t just a vertical player, however. Usher is an explosive player and does a great job of finishing above the rim. 1 thing that pops off when you turn on Jordan Usher’s film is how athletic he is. The squad will be led by Bryan Bailey and Lamar Skeeter, and while there may not be enough pure talent on this squad to take home a Summer League title, the Jazz will no doubt have their hands full scouting this team, which could come away with a few impressive wins. The No. There’s no blue chip prospect or guaranteed NBA star on this team, there’s plenty of young talent, and seeing as though Summer League is often used to uncover hidden gems or get former NBA players some reps, this is a great team. It’s very evident that the Jazz are going guard heavy in this year’s Summer League, but with so much talent, there’s going to be plenty to watch at every position for Jazz fans, as they continue to digest the Rudy Gobert trade and the future of this team going forward. The absense of Leondro Bolmaro and Walker Kessler is a puzzling one, but given that NBA Summer League in Las Vegas is still over a week away, there is a chance that we may get to see one or both of them in action eventually, as they figure to be potential NBA role players in the not too distant future. Current Jazz assistants Bryan Bailey (Salt Lake) and Lamar Skeeter (Las Vegas) will coach. The Utah Jazz's summer league roster will feature the likes of Jared Butler, Johnny Juzang, and Tacko Fall, but, as of yet, neither Leandro Bolmaro or Walker Kessler from the Wolves trade. Given what other teams will be sending to Summer League (for example, the OKC Thunder will be sending the likes of Chet Holmgren and Ousamane Dieng and Jalen Williams to Salt Lake City Summer League), the Jazz definitely won’t be seen as a top team to watch, but for Jazz fans, this is going to be a crucial Summer League. While there’s no big name rookies or prized young free agents on the roster, it’s made up of an interesting blend of players, and with the recent turnover on the Jazz roster, we could be seeing some future NBA players on this roster. ![]() Summer League kicks off for the Jazz in Salt Lake City from the 5th-7th of July, before they head to Las Vegas to join the rest of the NBA, and yesterday, Utah announced the squad they would be sending to both of these events. By Nathan Smith 3 months ago Follow Tweetĭespite no draft picks in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Utah Jazz are putting together a very fun summer league roster, and after the trade of Rudy Gobert and so much uncertainty now around where the roster is headed, the annual pre-season competition could be more important than ever. ![]()
